Digital Content Intern
Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival

The Digital Content Intern will be a very hands on and organized self-starter and will take part in making the Celebrate Brooklyn Performing Arts Festival come to life. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, this intern will contribute by creating video content for use on social media in connection with the Celebrate Brooklyn Performing Arts Festival.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Work with Marketing Manager, Sponsorship Manager and Festival team to create concepts for “stories” including attendee experiences, sponsor recognition/engagement, and artist insights
  • Develop story boards and shots lists for same
  • Shoot video and record audio at all performances (1-person team)
  • Upload short clips to social media in real time
  • Edit longer clips and upload to website and social media each week
Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree or currently pursuing degree in related field
  • Must have at least 1 year of video (shooter) and editing experience
  • Must be creative, proactive, highly organized, computer literate, outgoing, and able to think on your feet
  • Must possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be excited to work on administrative office tasks and to engage with artists and the public onsite, both with utmost professionalism
  • Some experience working live events and knowledge of music and the performing arts are a plus

Survey Research Intern

The Survey Research Intern will be a very hands on and organized self-starter and will take part in making the Celebrate Brooklyn Performing Arts Festival come to life.  Reporting to the Marketing Manager, this intern will create, implement and evaluate pre-season, on-site and post-season attendee surveys for the Celebrate Brooklyn Performing Arts Festival.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Work with Marketing Director, Sponsorship Manager and Executive Producer to create pre-season and post-season attendee surveys to be conducted thru email and Survey Monkey, as well as an attendee survey to be conducted on-site at every performance.
  • Develop questions and multiple-choice answers for same
  • Work with Marketing Director to plan and execute pre-season and post-season surveys.
  • Implement on-site survey at all performances, utilizing iPads and supervising volunteers
  • Download data from mailchimp to excel and create multiple reports
  • Create reports showing changes in sentiment/awareness between pre-season, on-site and post-season surveys
Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Masters degree or currently pursuing degree in related field
  • Must have at least 1 year of direct survey implementation and evaluation experience
  • Must be self-directed and proactive, highly organized, computer literate, outgoing, and able to think on your feet

Sponsorship & Marketing Intern

The Sponsorship & Marketing Intern position requires a proactive & well organized individual with an abundance of energy to take part in making the Celebrate Brooklyn Performing Arts Festival come to life. Reporting to the Sponsorship & Marketing Manager, this intern will contribute in all areas of sponsorship, marketing, development, on site activation, and administration for the Celebrate Brooklyn Performing Arts Festival.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Develop an understanding of all sponsor client & partner objectives and assist to ensure that all deliverables are executed both on site and on & off line (website, social media, email blasts, print & outdoor advertising, etc.)
  • Prepare & distribute sponsor tickets/ compile guest lists for various shows
  • Assist in the development & implementation of seasonal online survey
  • Help input sponsorship & development data into database(s)
  • Proactively document sponsor/partner activities for post season client recap presentations
  • Provide general administrative support for Sponsorship & Marketing staff & operations
Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Masters degree or currently pursuing degree in related field
  • Some experience in sponsorship, client management (interacting with a client), experiential & music marketing, and/or live event execution is preferred
  • Must be self-directed and proactive, highly organized, computer literate, outgoing, and able to think on your feet
  • Must possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be excited to work on administrative office tasks and to engage with the public onsite, both with utmost professionalism
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, technology, and email, internet & traditional marketing is a big plus! Additionally, graphic design skills are a major plus!
  • Knowledge of and a keen interest in music and the performing arts are desirable

Production Intern
Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival

The Production Intern will be a very hands on and organized self-starter and will take part in making the Celebrate Brooklyn Performing Arts Festival come to life. This intern will contribute in all areas of production for the Celebrate Brooklyn Performing Arts Festival.

Areas of Responsibility:
  • Will work directly with the Production Manager, Technical Director, Stage Manager, Lighting Director, Audio Engineers and other staff in a challenging (but fun!) professional environment.
  • Coordinate and implement lighting/video/audio technical needs.
  • Operate production (audio/lighting/video) equipment during show. Department assignment based on experience and preference.
Qualifications

Must be reliable, committed, willing to work the entire summer production schedule, self-motivated, and possess strong interpersonal skills. Some experience working in production for live events is preferred. We are looking for someone full of energy who is willing to learn and do whatever it takes to get the job done.

BRIC Arts | Media | Bklyn presents contemporary art, performing arts, and community media programs that reflect Brooklyn’s creativity and diversity.  We seek summer interns to assist with varied aspects of the contemporary art program, based at BRIC Rotunda Gallery in Brooklyn Heights.  BRIC’s contemporary art program presents innovative contemporary art exhibitions, public programs, opportunities for visual artists.  We also administer a respected arts education program in Brooklyn’s public schools.

Two interns will be selected for the summer of 2012.

Exhibitions and Curatorial Intern:

The Curatorial Intern will assist with exhibition and artist research, writing projects, and preparation of loan forms and other exhibition-related administrative duties.  Work will be focused on preparing for our fall exhibitions, including one focused on sculpture by emerging artists and another on urban design. The curatorial intern will conduct basic research write brief artist bios, prepare loan forms and other administrative documents, and compile information for exhibition binders.

In addition, this intern will conduct basic research, write artist bios, and coordinate logistics for an art auction held at BRIC’s annual contemporary art gala to be held in fall.

Students majoring in art history and curatorial studies, as well as those who have completed their junior or senior undergraduate year, will be given preference for this position. 

 

Events and Marketing Intern:

The Marketing & Events Intern will assist in planning for the annual fall gala in addition to other general marketing projects.

The 2012 gala, Brooklyn Art:Work, will honor a group of Brooklyn artists who are emblematic of the borough’s rise as an international cultural capital.  The intern will participate in varied aspects of gala planning. For the art auction, the intern will write bios of selected artists, manage communications with artists and galleries, gather images, and assist with the writing and editing of the auction catalogue/program.  Other gala tasks will include coordinating honoree and attendee gifts, and assisting with tasks related to the invitation, décor, and entertainment. 

Marketing projects include coordinating and sending press releases, preparing specialized press lists for 2012-13 exhibitions, updating the press list, frequent updating of social networking accounts, and writing projects on the blog and for other purposes.

Students majoring in arts administration and marketing, as well as those who have completed their junior or senior undergraduate year, will be given preference for this position. 

 

General duties:

Interns will also act as the front-desk receptionist and assist with other administrative tasks and errands.  Applicants should have excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills, and be able to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously.  


Qualifications:

  • Interest in contemporary art and culture
  • Excellent writing and research skills
  • Knowledge of PC and Mac computers
  • Basic design including: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel, Microsoft, PowerPoint
  • Digitizing and archiving images
  • Phone and communication skills.

Schedule:

Office hours are Monday-Thursday, 10-6 and Friday 10-2 in July and August. Interns are asked to work a minimum of 20 hour per week for a period of at least eight weeks.  Occasional evening hours may be scheduled for assistance with public programs. BRIC Rotunda Gallery is located at 33 Clinton Street in Brooklyn Heights, near multiple subway lines.
