BROOKLYN, NY – BRIC Arts | Media | Bklyn announces Brooklyn Art:Work, the annual Contemporary Art gala in support of BRIC’s contemporary art exhibitions, public programs, and education program. The Gala will include a cocktail reception featuring live music by musician Holly Miranda, a performance by Brooklyn-based multimedia artist Joe Jagos over dinner, and a live auction of art works generously donated by our artist honorees led by Christie’s Auctioneer Sara Friedlander. Presented by the 2010 Gala Host Committee, led by Co-Chairs Kerry Le Blanc Strong and Wendy Olsoff of Chelsea gallery PPOW, Brooklyn Art:Work will take place on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, 6:30pm at Stage 6 at Steiner Studios in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Brooklyn-affiliated musician Holly Miranda has just completed her first solo headlining tour, which included a stop at BRIC’s outdoor performance series, the Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival in summer 2010. Miranda was a member of The Jealous Girlfriends until 2007, before starting her solo music pursuits. Since then she has opened for Tegan and Sara, the xx, and My Morning Jacket, among others. Her album The Magicians Private Library was released in 2010.
Brooklyn multimedia artist Joe Jagos appropriates found images, stop-motion animation, as well as his own footage. At Brooklyn Art:Work Jagos will be live mixing this imagery and setting it to music. Jagos also operates Hiding Gallery in Brooklyn.
