Automated System

Hello BCAT TV Network Community Producer!

Since September 2009, we've taken giant steps towards becoming an automated and digitally file-based television transmission facility. We're presently using new automation system for scheduling and find that it provides an easier process of encoding media, more efficient playback of programs and cleaner reception for viewers. The new automation system changes how community producers submit programs for playback and scheduling--so please take the time to learn how it will affect you and your program.

We want to make sure our certified and playback producers are fully prepared for this transition, please browse through our Frequently Asked Questions

YOU CAN NOW INGEST YOUR SHOWS FOR AUTOMATIC PLAYBACK ON THE BCAT TV NETWORK!

You may upload (from DVD or external hard drive) up to 13 digital files for this quarter at our ingestion stations at the BCAT Media Center. If you plan to upload more than one, be prepared to spend some time at the BCAT Media Center as it takes anywhere from 3-8 minutes to copy a single digital file to our server.  Ingestion stations are available on a first come, first served basis.

As we upgrade our digital storage space for these files, our community media staff will log-on and assist you in the ingestion process.  Please be prepared to fill out the Program Description form for each of the episodes that are uploaded.  We’re using this information for an interactive Program Guide webpage that’s presently in the works.

We continue to take tapes (VHS and miniDV only), but limit producers to having two tapes in our library at a time. Please, if you have not done so already, take the steps needed to create your program on a DVD or flash drive as we will become a tapeless facility in the future.
