Gun Violence & Brooklyn Youth

According to Kings County DA Charles Hynes, nearly 30 percent of all homicide offenders are between the ages of 17 and 24. Youth gun violence is a major problem for the nation and for Brooklyn, with devastating consequences for the families of both victim and the shooter. This B.I.T. Special will feature a panel discussion on recent efforts made within the borough to decrease gun violence among youth, how the justice system handles the ramifications of gun violence, and preventative resources available in the community. Guests include DA Hynes, Senior Deputy District Attorney Joan Gabbion and B.I.T.’s public affairs producer Brian Vines. Following the panel will be an airing of Charge it to the Game, a documentary sponsored by DA Hynes’ office.
