Program Description
Okema Moore, Host
Bordered by Flushing Avenue to the north, Classon Avenue to the west, Van Sinderen Avenue to the east and Atlantic Avenue to the south, Bedford-Stuyvesant is one of Brooklyn’s oldest and proudest neighborhoods. A cultural center for Brooklyn’s African-American population, Bed-Stuy serves as an inspiration for scores of celebrated American filmmakers, musicians and artists--- many of them lifelong residents of this established neighborhood. Bed-Stuy has recently experienced a sort of renaissance with new cafes, restaurants, galleries and businesses sprouting next to long-time local haunts, family grocery stores and brownstones. Join Host Okema Moore as we explore the people and places that make Bedford-Stuyvesant a gem of Brooklyn.
Neighborhood Beat is a series featuring Brooklyn's diverse neighborhoods. The programs are produced and directed by neighborhood reps.
