Program Description
Encompassing three adjacent neighborhoods — Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, and Carroll Gardens — BoCoCa is chock full of artisans, fashionable boutiques, salons, bars — and home to Smith Street, New York City's hippest (and tastiest) restaurant row.
Gowanus has been a central part of Brooklyn industry since the 1860's. Today, it is one of the remaining manufacturing neighborhoods for the borough and is undergoing an 'industrial renaissance' as more small manufacturing businesses relocate to the area. Gowanus's infamous Gowanus Canal draws attention from both environmentalists and redevelopers (to the chagrin or delight of its residents, depending). Despite the controversy over the canal, those who live and work in Gowanus are proud to call it 'home.'
