A Place A Part

January 7 – February 13, 1988

A group exhibition of work by artists Susan Barnes, Cecile Wick and Eldridge Rawls, whose paintings and assemblages are additive reconstructions of their environment. The art, summarizing the physicality of place, is anti-narrative, denying distinctions between nature, a natural state, and a formal arranging process. Instead of description, the artists offer allusions that are based on signs, signals, and symbols.
