Web of Fossils / Video Is

April 13 – May 20, 1989

“Video Is” explores video as a medium that typically attaches itself to older forms of art, like film, television, sculpture and performance. This exhibit features work by Dick Codor, Louie Grenier, Abby Luby, Terry Mohre, Alex Roshuk, and Matthew Schlanger.

“Web of Fossils” is a site specific environmental installation by Joanne Brockley which dramatically transforms the gallery and the viewer’s relationship to the space. This exuberant mixed media combination of found objects, hardware, gravel and plaster examined the debris and refuse of our everyday world. Through their placement into an ambiguous context of some future era, these mundane objects are transformed into fossilized clues to a forgotten culture.
