The Street

July 8-August 14, 1993

Through work in all media, the exhibition will examine the urban experience as shaped by the life of our streets. Functioning at once as public and privated spaces, streets are often determining factors in how we feel about our communities and our lives. Defined by architecture and the constant movement of people and vehicles, our streets can be expressive of the powers that plague the modern city—abandonment, crime and homelessness. Featuring work by: Ronald Baron, Jon Burris, Ken Chu, Curtis Cravens, Maria Inocencio, David Lee, Marilyn Nance, Stephanie Rowden, Juan Sanchez and Dara Silverman. Curated by Meredith McNeal and Janet Riker.
