To Have and To Hold: Photographs by Lauren Piperno is a provocative look at the power and beauty of professional and amateur dancers in action. The spirit of dance comes alive in ten large-scale photographs which are accompanied by brief texts on dancing from sources as diverse as Goethe, Arthur Murray and Irene Castle. The music, the dress, the couple become metaphors for the moods and struggles of relationships-from the fiery passion of the tango to the genteel elegance of the waltz.
