Storytelling that has been part of the visual art experience since before antiquity. Using a visual vocabulary that is symbolic or abstract as often as it is representational, contemporary artists weave stories that may be precise in their telling or provocatively open-ended. The exhibition will include personal histories, as well as work which explores the realms of fantasy and cultural mythologies. Works from Meg Belichick, Elizabeth Cohen, Arturo Elizondo, Michael H. Ensminger, Garland Farwell, Marina Gutierrez, KK Kozik, Stephanie Brody Lederman, Rejin Leys, Glenn Ligon, Addison F. Petit, and Carol Sun will be selected from the Rotunda Gallery’s slide registry of Brooklyn affiliated artists by Gallery Director Janet Riker and Assistant Director Meridith McNeal.
