Suture
This group exhibition will focus on work that incorporates sewing and stitchery in various manifestations — from fabric works dealing with concepts related to the traditions of women’s handiwork, to sculptures and video exploring surgical sutures and scarring. Featured artists included: Kristin Beinner, Nancy Diamond, Lesley Dill, Dianna Frid, Vince Gargiulo, Sally Gil, Janet Goldner, Anne M. Hanson, Tricia Harrison, Elana Herzog, Sandra Korsak, Larry Krone, Eve Andree Laramee, Ana Linnemann, Lara Lepionka, Norma Markley, Holly Miller, Cyrilla Mozenter, Katherine Powers, Paul Henry Ramirez, David Shapiro, Patricia Smith, Merle Temkin, Celeste Torello, Jeane Tremel, Paul Villinski, and Roxanne Wolanczyk.
Suture was organized by Annie Herron, an independent curator, who began the innovative exhibition space Herron Test-Site in Williamsburg and recently as director of the Gallery Black + Herron.
