The 23rd Annual BRIC Contemporary Art Education Exhibition
May 19 – June 11, 2011
Opening Reception: Wednesday, May 18, 6-8 pm
Family Day: May 21, 12-3 pm
This annual exhibition presents student work created over the course of the academic year under the auspices of BRIC Contemporary Art Education’s in-school residency program. Artworks shown will reflect widely varying media and approaches, and will include individual and collaborative works.
The Art Education exhibition presents student work in a contemporary art context; the installation is an intense collaboration involving BRIC’s Director of Education, the exhibition designer, and the teaching artists who lead the residencies in Brooklyn public schools.
During the run of the exhibition, the BRIC Contemporary Art Education program will organize workshops and roundtables for educators on such art education topics as how to integrate visual arts topics into the broader school curriculum, and tools to assess student learning in the arts.
Exhibition curator Hawley Hussey is Director of Contemporary Art Education, and a practicing artist.
Information about each exhibition available in the 2010-11 Exhibition Season Press Release.
