Brooklyn’s Best All-Ages, All-Day Party!

Brooklyn’s best family daytime parties continue with special daytime activities, including family dance classes, live musicgaming, art-making, and other participatory activities, all ending with a family disco party.

September's House Party will feature a memorable exploration of culture through fashion, textiles and art-making

12:30-2:30pm Indigo Dyeing Party!
Get in an indigo mood with the Textile Arts Center. Come and experience the magical process of indigo dyeing in a special party environment with blue lights and music. Participants will each get a piece of fabric to learn the art of shibori, a Japanese indigo dyeing technique.Textile Arts Center (TAC) is a NYC-based resource facility dedicated to raising awareness and understanding of textiles through creative educational programs for children and adults.

12:45-1:30pm Performance by Ifetayo Youth Ensemble 
Ifetayo Youth Ensemble (IYE) is a performance ensemble of 25-30 youth, ages 12-19, that create original work about social justice issues affecting young people today. Their performances are a combination of years of study in African dance, African drum, modern dance and acting and their passion to become change agents in their communities. They will perform excerpts of their original pieces, accompanied by live drumming and featuring fantastic and colorful costumes.

1-5pm Moda Reciclada (Recycled Fashion)!
Re-purposing items such as yarn from sweaters, plastic bags, and telephone wires, create your own fashionable wears. Led by artist Gabriela Galván.

3:30-5pm Party Like Brooklyn presents baby loves disco!
Move your family dance party from the living room to the BRIC House Ballroom and dance it out! Party Like Brooklyn presents an after­noon dance party featuring real music spun and mixed by real djs blend­ing clas­sic disco tunes from the 70s, & 80s with today’s hottest dance tunes that creates a child-proof dis­co for tod­dlers, pre-schoolers, and par­ents look­ing to let loose!

Venue Information:

BRIC House is Brooklyn’s cultural living room: a 40,000 square foot multi-disciplinary arts and media complex in the former Strand Theatre, where emerging and established artists can create work that deepens their practice and engages the diverse communities of the borough. 

Beginning Nov. 1, 2022, attendees of any BRIC House programming will no longer have to show proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter the building. Masks are encouraged but not required in all BRIC operated spaces. If you have questions regarding this protocol, please email Safety@bricartsmedia.org. BRIC is committed to welcoming people of all abilities. BRIC's main entrance, located on Rockwell Street, is fully accessible. In addition the main floor of BRIC House has an accessible, all-gender bathroom. The BRIC Media Center, located on the 2nd floor, is accessible via elevator. The Gallery level is accessible via a wheelchair lift. Portable FM assistive listening devices are available for programs on the Stoop and in the Ballroom upon request.
