Inclusive and welcoming programming that encourage creativity and discovery. Join us for dance classes, gaming, art-making and other participatory activities, culminating in a raucous all-ages dance party.
Inspired by astronauts and the King of Pop, the Moonwalk House Party will be an action-packed day of moving backwards and forwards through time and space.

12-5pm | Garage Door Video Series Get lost in video art by Jakob Kudsk Steensen, projected on the garage doors of our gallery space. STOOP |
12-2pm | Digital Remix Educational Activity: MJ Forever! Moonwalk with Michael Jackson! Animate a music video with the King of Pop in cosmic Outer Space! During this digital art-making activity, participants will have the opportunity to work with a BRIC Teaching Artist using stop motion animation to honor the iconic artist and his legendary dance moves. These “music videos” will be incorporated into a green screen activity. TV STUDIO |

12:45, 1:15, 1:45, and 2:15pm | Dance Class with Preschool Rock! (all ages welcome) Join us for an imaginative journey to the Moon and Beyond! We'll glide through space, defying gravity, defeating obstacles, and we'll draw power from the sun to reveal our super-selves. Then we'll return to Earth to protect our world with a full family jam of the greatest war dance of all time ... Micheal Jackson's Thriller! ARTIST STUDIO |
12:55-1:25pm | Kai Kleinbard's Living Stop-Motion Animation Performance Gliding through the gallery in a living stop-motion animation, Kai Kleinbard, will then lead an interactive demonstration that explores physical illusion. Kai Kleinbard creates improvisational characters that mimic cartoons and stop-motion. He is inspired by his research of urban styles of dance (including popping, house and bruk-up). STOOP |
1-3pm | Cosmik Ice Cream Get a taste of this brand new Brooklyn ice cream adventure. While we might all know about freeze-dried “Astronaut Ice Cream” , Cosmik is a whole new world. Designer Robert Collignon starts with premium, organic, Brooklyn-made ice cream and transforms it into a space-travel ready dessert! |
1-3pm | Shadow Puppet Tent by Drama of Works Drama of Works presents "LIFTOFF!" - a theatrical experience that is literally out of this world. Step inside what appears to be an ordinary tent and let the magic of shadow puppetry transport you to another dimension. BALLROOM |
1-4pm | Art-making Activity: Bedazzle a Glove Channel Michael Jackson’s famous Billie Jean performance by making your own signature glove. Adorn your glove with cool patterns and designs using rhinestones and gems and show it off with your dance moves at the Party Like Brooklyn Baby dance party! SWING SPACE |
2pm | Performance by Michael Jackson Impersonator A special Michael Jackson tribute performance by impersonator Michael Trapson. STOOP |
2-5pm | Minecraft Meet-Up! Place blocks and go on adventures by playing everyone's favorite game on your own or against others. MEDIA CENTER |
2:45-3:30pm | Control the Sound Performs! This group of 11 year old musicians from Brooklyn play rock/funk/ska classics with the same high energy and enthusiasm as they do their originals. STOOP |
3:30-5pm | Party Like Brooklyn presents baby loves disco! Move your family dance party from the living room to the BRIC House Ballroom and dance it out! Party Like Brooklyn presents an afternoon dance party featuring real music spun and mixed by real djs blending classic disco tunes from the 70s, & 80s with today’s hottest dance tunes that creates a child-proof disco for toddlers, pre-schoolers, and parents looking to let loose! Venue Information:
BRIC House is Brooklyn’s cultural living room: a 40,000 square foot multi-disciplinary arts and media complex in the former Strand Theatre, where emerging and established artists can create work that deepens their practice and engages the diverse communities of the borough.
Beginning Nov. 1, 2022, attendees of any BRIC House programming will no longer have to show proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter the building. BRIC is committed to welcoming people of all abilities. BRIC's main entrance, located on Rockwell Street, is fully accessible. In addition the main floor of BRIC House has an accessible, all-gender bathroom. The BRIC Media Center, located on the 2nd floor, is accessible via elevator. The Gallery level is accessible via a wheelchair lift. Portable FM assistive listening devices are available for programs on the Stoop and in the Ballroom upon request.
