Quick question: In the new age of technology, how do we navigate through the dating scene?

In B Scene: It's Complicated, Dating & Relationships in 2016, our friends at The Bishop Gallery help us uncomplicate this thing called relationships. This screening will feature diverse, love-filled content related to dating and relationships— all produced by aspiring and emerging TV and film artists in Brooklyn.

Light refreshments will be served.

MEET THE HOSTS
Angela Renee Coakley has produced A-list events and concerts for the likes of Grammy Award-winning artists such as Phillip Bailey of Earth, Wind and Fire, CeCe Winans, Kirk Franklin, Gladys Knight and more. To add to her live music event production, she co-produced events for television, including Evening with the Stars for UNCF and a variety show series featuring George Wallace and other comedians for local television in Las Vegas. She makes guest appearances as an on-air talent judge for CBS 5’s (Phoenix) Lucky Break. She has also worked in production for the famed Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity. Ms. Coakley was a professionally trained dancer and studied at the acclaimed Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. She enjoys tennis and is an avid player with Southern Nevada division of the USTA.

Noella Fe is an internet personality who delivers shock therapy to the public. Noella's blog, The Conservative W.H.O.R.E has taken off as a movement with direction from its parent company SISTALADIFRIEND. Noella strives to change the minds of the people without changing them as a whole.

MEET THE PANELISTS
Shay L. Askew is a minister, talk show host, producer, author, consultant, educator, blogger, director, and mother. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Shay is the host of Spiritual Sense w/Shay, a 2-hour online Christian live streaming broadcast, which airs every Sunday at 7am on DJ Dummy the Genius Network-VusicLive, WVLM (www.vusiclive.com). She is also the Executive Producer of The Truth & A Church Girl, a 1-hour online Christian talk show also on the VusicLive network.

Shay became a certified community producer with BRIC in July 2015. She has produced Spiritual Sense w/Shay and The Truth and A Church Girl which airs weekly on the Brooklyn Free Speech Channel. The Truth & A Church Girl was nominated for the Spirit & Being: Outstanding Program Feature/Segment and the WOW! Factor Outstanding On-Air Talent. In April of 2016, Shay L. Askew won Brooklyn Free Speech's first-ever 2016 People’s Choice Award for The Truth & A Church Girl.

Lumumba David is a professional photographer who has took the natural progression into filmmaking. In a pursuit to capture the world Mr. David started his photography career as a hobby in 2012, a hobby that turned into his services being in demand and contracting clients such as Mrs. Queens America. Mr. David turned to filmmaking because he has a desire to reach the unreachable with his Christian faith. 

Mr. David is the producer of The Perspective a show geared toward talking about some of the difficulties of family life and marriage where no issue or topic is taboo. He is also the co-host. Mr. David is also developing and producing a Christian dating show called The Suitors where real people will meet real people. Mr. David said he does not have anything against social media he just wants couples to emerge from beyond the firewall and facade that social media allows. Mr. David is on a mission to create history.

Jean Black grew up in the Bay Area of California. Moving to Los Angeles in her late teens, she discovered her ability to put together concepts and visual arts with sound. She went Santa Monica Community College and took various community classes to study film and television. Working on popular webseries such as Black and Sexy TV, music videos featuring Jay Sean, Tyga, and Wiz Khalifa. As well as Feature Length Films such as Empieral Dreams, she established a name for herself in Los Angeles. January of 2014, Jean moved to Brooklyn, New York to work on her individual skills and projects.

Aaron Bramwell
Aaron Bramwell is a United States Navy Veteran and worked with the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development as a procurement analyst until his retirement. Aaron was the recipient of the Most Valuable Producer (MVP) award in 2015 and works as a director on several shows that air on Brooklyn Free Speech. Aaron is executive producer and creator of THE BRAMWELL BANDWAGON Presents I’M JUST SAYIN, a current-day relationship talk show. I’M JUST SAYIN addresses relationship topics, like:

  • Are relationships a business deal?
  • Where are the good men/woman?
  • Do we have to be evenly yoked?
  • Is sex important in a relationship?

I’M JUST SAYIN thrives and focuses on what a panel of guests and audience members are concerned about in today’s dating and relationship environment. I’M JUST SAYIN!

ABOUT B SCENE
Brooklyn Free Speech is very proud to announce B Scene, a free film and TV viewing party series that aims to amplify the voices of Brooklyn Free Speech producers at local hotspots throughout the borough. The B Scene viewing series is a great way for Brooklynites to meet professional and aspiring media makers and get their film, television, or web series projects seen.
