Brooklyn’s Best All-Ages, All-Afternoon Party!

Brooklyn’s best family daytime parties continue with special daytime activities, including family dance classes, live music, gaming, art-making, and other participatory activities, all ending with a family disco party.

November's House Party will feature a fun-filled day of learning, sharing ideas and art-making—with a hip hop flare!

Create your own subway train graffiti using a range of materials, then put your art to motion in front of our animated screen.

Learn the secrets of beatboxing and turn yourself into a human drum machine during this participatory workshop.

The Big Event!
Enter our large Ballroom space and participate in the following activities:

  • Add your creative touch to a collaborative mural done in the style of street art. 
  • Brooklyn Strategist will guide families and kids through a few favorite games played on our boroughs parks, sidewalks, and streets, including dominoes, checkers, chess, and Scopa (an Italian card game). The Carroll Gardens-based business is a unique, community-based, interactive board and card game center, café and social club.
  • Enjoy the photographs of Anderson Zaca's "Block Party: The Soul of Summer." Block parties are the heart and soul of New York City summers, and Zaca has been documenting this great city tradition since 2005, capturing over 200 block parties in all of their revelry.

Have your child's caricature done by local artists Barthelemy Atsin and Kahiem Archer.

Children of all ages are welcome to join in on a journey through time . . . with drills, games and rhymes! This movement exploration will stretch your imagination as participants animate graffiti designs and crowded subways through movement, and of course get down, literally (rocking on cardboard on the floor)!

A street dancing performance with instructional elements, courtesy of Dancing in the Streets, a South Bronx-based organization that develops movement-based projects through long term initiatives.

3:30-5pm Party Like Brooklyn presents baby loves disco!
Move your family dance party from the living room to the BRIC House Ballroom and dance it out! Party Like Brooklyn presents an after­noon dance party featuring real music spun and mixed by real djs blend­ing clas­sic disco tunes from the 70s, & 80s with today’s hottest dance tunes that creates a child-proof dis­co for tod­dlers, pre-schoolers, and par­ents look­ing to let loose!

Venue Information:

BRIC House is Brooklyn’s cultural living room: a 40,000 square foot multi-disciplinary arts and media complex in the former Strand Theatre, where emerging and established artists can create work that deepens their practice and engages the diverse communities of the borough. 

Beginning Nov. 1, 2022, attendees of any BRIC House programming will no longer have to show proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter the building. Masks are encouraged but not required in all BRIC operated spaces. If you have questions regarding this protocol, please email Safety@bricartsmedia.org. BRIC is committed to welcoming people of all abilities. BRIC's main entrance, located on Rockwell Street, is fully accessible. In addition the main floor of BRIC House has an accessible, all-gender bathroom. The BRIC Media Center, located on the 2nd floor, is accessible via elevator. The Gallery level is accessible via a wheelchair lift. Portable FM assistive listening devices are available for programs on the Stoop and in the Ballroom upon request.
