FROM THE CURATOR:
“The musicians and artists of the music program of SCENE(SEEN)/HERE(HEAR) evoke spiritual and psychological freedom. La Big Vic’s sound embodies the essence of exploration; breaking through mental constraints imposed by societal concerns to an unknown place full of endless possibilities. Like La Big Vic, the sonic boundaries of wish are limitless. A melodious shaman, wish uses arpeggiation to cleanse the spirit and oversaturated psyche. Jon Williams’ and Rebecca Gaffney’s video work disintegrates optical confinement and replaces linear perception, playing with the moment that occurs before we have time to completely formulate imagery and make it familiar.
I am pleased to present these artists and musicians in one program and have a sense that when the audience walks away they will feel a little lighter on their feet.”

THE VIDEO ARTISTS
Jon Williams:
Jon Williams is a Brooklyn-based artist with a background in formal computer science, film studies & Afro-Cuban percussion. His live video work explores digital-optical feedback technique and samples culled from marathon film screening sessions and the forgotten alleys of computer graphics. While utilizing both video cameras and analog video synthesis, most images are generated via real-time editing in a software patch environment. In November 2008, he orchestrated the video for Excepter's 17-hour election day telethon at Monkeytown in Brooklyn. He frequently performs music in ad-hoc / semi-improvised groups, including "gauze" art-rock group Enoch A.L.N. (with Rebecca Gaffney); in April 2011, he performed a 37 minute piece on synthesizer in a 13 person, one parakeet ensemble.
Rebecca Gaffney:
Rebecca Gaffney is a Brooklyn-based video and installation artist/musician/writer who works with out of phase strobelight, reflections, light/vid/music improv, transcendence, happenings, epic collaborations, aerial views, and "new shit". She has performed and shown at Canada Gallery, Secret Project Robot, Louis V. E.S.P., PS1, and St. Cecelia's Convent, where she also curated Spun 3{The Crest Jewel of}, a 70-artist video-light-sound installation show. She plays in "gauze" art-rock group Enoch A.L.N.
