Celebrate Brooklyn! Bike Zone

Bike Map

The ‘Celebrate Brooklyn Bike Zone’ will be the largest bike parking initiative at a cultural (non-bike) event in NYC. Bike to the Bandshell and safely park your bicycle at the ‘Celebrate Brooklyn Bike Zone’ located at 11th Street and Prospect Park West. We are partnering with Transportation Alternatives to provide Bike Valet and Self Park & Lock areas to accommodate approximately 400 bikes.

Celebrate Brooklyn Bike Zone sponsored by JAMIS Bicycles and DERO Bike Racks.

Special thanks to Transportation Alternatives, Livable Streets Initiative and Ride the City.

Got a Flat? Need to pump up those tires? Adjust your seat?

No problem! Transportation Alternatives will have volunteer Bike Experts onsite at the Bike Zone to help with minor bike repairs.

How do I Bike to the Bandshell?

With new bike lanes on Vanderbilt Avenue, Bedford Avenue, 9th Street, 3rd Street and other approaches to Prospect Park, biking to Celebrate Brooklyn has never been easier. Visit ridethecity.com/celebratebrooklyn to map the safest route from where you live.

Transportation Alternatives

As New York’s leading advocate for cyclists, pedestrians, and public transit users, TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES has played a key role in the recent surge of bicycle infrastructure in New York City. According to counts by the NYC Department of Transportation, the number of bike commuters grew an unprecedented 35% in 2008. Since 2007, the City has installed over 150 miles of new bicycle lanes, including the US’s first Copenhagen-style separated cycle track. Providing safe, reliable valet bike parking is a great way to encourage Brooklynites to take to two wheels.”

“We are geared up to park thousands of bikes at this year’s Celebrate Brooklyn,” says Paul Steely White, Executive Director of Transportation Alternatives. “Providing safe, reliable valet bike parking is a great way to encourage Brooklynites to take to two wheels."

Livable Streets

The LIVABLE STREETS INITIATIVE is working to create sustainable cities through sensible urban planning, design and transportation policy. We provide media coverage, educational programs and offer practical tools and resources for communities. Join the movement to take back our cities at livablestreets.com.

"The Livable Streets Initiative is delighted to work on the largest bike parking zone at a cultural series in New York City; we are thrilled that Celebrate Brooklyn is demonstrating the value of biking to other arts and cultural institutions. As a partner, we have created a map of bike routes to Celebrate Brooklyn, and will be documenting this special project with a Streetfilm. Livable Streets Education will also have a presence at Family Day on July 11th, leading family-friendly activities that investigate the reasons why pedestrians, cyclists, and mass transit riders help the environment." Aaron Naparstek, Director, Livable Streets Initiative.

Ride the City
