Women are from Venus
June 2009
The post-classical string quartet ETHEL hunkers down at BRIClab to write a new score for the 1960’s Mexican Sci-Fi film La Nave de los Monstruos. After an atom bomb annihilates all the men on Venus, two Venusian women travel the universe on the hunt for husbands. But when their spaceship crashes on the planet Mexico, the galactic babes must deal with singing cowboys, monster revolts, a jukebox-smitten robot, lessons in love and vampire attacks.
ETHEL recruits the band Gutbucket to join them on stage for this interplanetary performance event — commissioned by Celebrate Brooklyn! Get a glimpse of the process with Brooklyn Independent Television.
