We all know that Art is not truth. Art is a lie that makes us realize truth, at least the truth that is given us to understand. The artist must know the manner whereby to convince others of the truthfulness of his lies.
~ Pablo Picasso

We live in an era when truth is under assault. In a time of alternative truths and truthiness, we ask that you show us your truth. What is real and true for you?

BRIC's open call exhibitions—presented every other year in the Gallery of BRIC House—are open to all members of BRIC’s online Contemporary Artist Registry or to those artists who join the BRIC Artist Registry during the exhibition submission period. BRIC’s Registry is free and open to artists who were born, live, or work in Brooklyn, NY. This exhibition is meant to be as open as possible, but due to space limitations, it is "lightly curated" based on the number of works submitted.

THEME:
BRIC's open call exhibitions often center around a theme. This year, the theme is TRUTH. We live in an era when truth is under assault. In a time of alternative truths and truthiness, we ask that you show us your truth. What is real and true for you?

Registry artists may submit a single work of art (see details below) related to the theme of the open call show.

Preference is given to those artists who have NOT been included in the previous OPEN (C)ALLexhibition, although all artists are encouraged to apply.

DETAILS:
1) Artists must be members of the online BRIC Contemporary Artist Registry, or join the Registry during the submission period, before applying to the open call. Current Registry artists: please make sure to update your registry profile with any new work or information.

2) Artists will need to create a Submittable account to submit work to this open call. PLEASE NOTE: Your Submittable account is separate from your BRIC Registry Account.

3) Artists can submit only one work to be included in the exhibition in the form of any 2-D media, small sculpture, or time-based media (see specifications below). *Please note that as we come closer to reaching capacity, small works will be favored.
