What role did the Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church have in the struggle against the Atlantic Yards development? How does the design of Fort Greene Park both unify and divide our community? How do the women and immigrant-owned businesses shape our neighborhood? For members of the Future Historical Society, these questions laid the groundwork for a set of audio stories created to unlock the significance of seven diverse locations in Fort Greene. These stories are told through the perspective of personal meaning, human connection, and consideration for what we have, what we’ve lost, and what we hope to see in the future of this constantly changing neighborhood.

This week, the FHS will join together with the owners, congregants, customers, and neighbors at these locations to share the stories they crafted, gather new stories, and celebrate the community we are creating together. FHS members will travel around the neighborhood with a “mobile storytelling lab”, a modular gathering space that is designed to encourage conversation, wonder, and listening. We hope you’ll join us to share your own stories about the people and places that matter to you--  past, present, and future.
