Last week, we announced the full schedule for BRIC House Sessions, a weekly music series that takes place Thursdays at BRIC House in the spring. With these shows, the spirit of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival is alive in our Fort Greene headquarters as we present world-class concerts with internationally-renowned artists.
While we always work to bring the Bandshell vibes to BRIC House, this year we’re excited to bring some actual Celebrate Brooklyn alums to our Ballroom stage.
In the summer of 2017, legendary MC Talib Kweli joined The Soul Rebels, New Orleans' most beloved brass ensemble along with other special guests Pharoahe Monch and Kirk Knight. One of the biggest shows of the summer, it was quite a night—so come through on February 14 to see Talib perform with NIKO IS and some special guests TBA.
A well-established jazz saxophonist in his own right, Donny McCaslin skyrocketed to fame in 2016, when the Donny McCaslin Group backed up musical superstar David Bowie on his final album, Blackstar. That same year, we hosted a screening of Labyrinth at the Bandshell, with the Donny McCaslin Group kicking things off. On March 28, McCaslin will perform songs from his new album, Blow., as part of BRIC House Sessions.
Only a few days after Donny McCaslin Group and Labyrinth, Son Little helped us close out the 2016 season at the Bandshell, opening for R&B songstress Andra Day. It was the hottest day of the year and an equally hot night of music—and we’re sure Son will bring the fire once again on February 28.
Were you at any of these shows at the Bandshell? Come experience these amazing artists—and more—at this year’s BRIC House Sessions, starting Thursday, February 14, 2019!
