In partnership with The Bishop Gallery, Brooklyn Free Speech presents a special installment of its B Scene screening series with The Great Wall of Brooklyn: Art Docs. We will be celebrating documentary film and its cultural significance.

Learning to Believe in Change - A Reflection from Roy Irizarry
Filmmaker: Lenny Moore
This documentary captures the reflection of change in the life of Roy Irizarry who has suffered from severe illness that derailed the career of his dreams, and dramatically changed his lifestyle. His pursuit for normalcy has proven to result in his own personal journey of challenges before arriving to a point where he stills needs to find his professional and social future.

ARTISTIC VIEW
Filmmaker: Phyllis E. Roker
Phyllis E. Roker is an educator by nature, a poet by design and a filmmaker by desire. She is a producer at Brooklyn Free Speech for her documentary program, "ARTISTIC VIEW", and a 2017, People's Choice B Free Awards Nominee. Phyllis has chosen documentary style to reveal her subjects' personal view about how they see our world artistically, whether they are artists or everyday people. Phyllis’ training includes field production and digital editing at Brooklyn Free Speech, a B.A. degree in Communications and Education from Hunter College and a Master's in Education and Interdisciplinary Studies from Cambridge College. Phyllis’ future plans are to intertwine her background & passions to relate her subjects' stories from their own "ARTISTIC VIEW".

Filmmaker: Veronica White
Veronica White is a true native of Long Island, having been born in East Meadow, raised in Queens and now residing in Brooklyn for more than 25 years now. She has spent her life exploring art forms: Theater, Dance, Music, Fiber Arts, flame work, and media arts. Veronica started as a community producer 19 years ago, when Brooklyn Free Speech was known as BCAT, and is currently a member of BRIC's freelance staff of producers. This is her first documentary.
