Koku Gonza, the daughter of a Tanzanian folk singer, has shared the stage with an eclectic range of audiences from tours in Europe, Asia and Africa. During the spring of 2016, Koku Gonza joined the cast of the show Empire as a pianist for the season finale. After her debut on Empire, she relocated to New York during the summer of 2016. She released "Conveniently Rolling," a soulful house track and music video on Circular Motion Records, which became a top 10 record in the soulful house genre.
Shortly after returning to New York from a two month performance artist residency in Hong Kong, she performed at the 2017 Apollo Wow fest along with Eperanza Spalding and Lindsey Webster. Prior to touring Tanzania this past winter, she debuted her Afro House hit "Penda Curious" on Anane and Louie Vega’s Nulu Records, which also became a top 10 in the Afro House genre.
