BRIC is proud to present Future Voters, a live, virtual #BHeard Town Hall designed to increase civic understanding and engagement among young people ages 14-25.
With an upcoming mayoral election under the new ranked choice voting system, youth participants will have the opportunity to dialog with the current NYC Mayoral candidates including Eric Adams, Art Chang, Ed Cullen, Shaun Donovan, Thomas Downs, Cleopatra Fitzgerald, Carlos Menchaca, and Bill Pepitone about their most pressing issues. Future Voters will empower young voters by showing them how they can harness their political influence through an enhanced understanding of the political process and advanced voter registration.
The Town Hall will kick off with a reading by NYC Youth Poet Laureate, Serena Yang.
Following the live event, this program will be used as an educational tool in classrooms throughout the NYC DOE during its Civic for All curriculum in March.
This event features live ASL translation.
Presented in partnership with the NYC Votes, New York City Department of Youth and Community Development, YVote, Friends of Island Academy, Future of Tomorrow, IntegrateNYC, and YWCA Brooklyn.
