Formed by James Mercer in Albuquerque, NM in 1996, the multiple GRAMMY nominated American band THE SHINS caused a sesimic shift in indie rock with their debut full length, Oh, Inverted World in 2001. The aftershocks continued in 2003 with Chutes Too Narrow, which garnered near-perfect reviews from The New York Times, MOJO, Rolling Stone, and Q, among numerous others, thus solidifying The Shins’ iconic standing. Their third and fourth albums, Wincing The Night Away (2007) and Port of Morrow (2012) respectively, both topped the Billboard charts and garnered rave reviews. Now, over 20 years since the band began, they are hard at work on their fifth album, which will be released in early 2017 via Aural Apothecary/Columbia Records.

Whether you've been with them for the longhaul or just jumped on board, get ready to sing along with their "wistful meditations and infectious melodies." (NPR)

TENNIS, a husband-and-wife duo whose fourth album Yours Unconditionally came out in March, will swing by the Bandshell to start things off.
