BUD LIGHT MUSIC SERIES

Join us on Sat, July 8 for a 2023 BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! concert featuring Kelela and Liv.e.

A seamless interpolator of music, art, and fashion, Kelela headlines a night of music sure to be as transcendent and kaleidoscopic as the wide breadth of her talents. Divinity, sonic elegance, and futurism define Kelela’s one-of-a-kind sound. Our opener, neo-soul artist Liv.e, grew up in a family of musicians, embedded in the gospel scene. Her experimental production and immersive storytelling is a beautiful nod to her musical lineage.

*Please Note: Seating will not be available at this show but you are permitted to bring your own. For our d/Deaf and hard of hearing communities, we will have an ASL interpreter at the left side of the stage.

About the artists

Skillfully straddling the frequencies of R&B and dance/club music, American singer, songwriter, and producer Kelela has established herself as an artistic interpolator of music, art, and fashion. In 2017, Kelela’s debut album, Take Me Apart, accelerated her inevitable rise to mainstream acclaim in both pop and underground culture. In the years prior, Cut 4 Me (2013) and Hallucinogen (2015) – among her other remix projects and features – cemented her artistry as a leading force in the alternative, underground R&B world. With a personal style as visually kaleidoscopic as her genre-wielding music, Kelela has established herself as a vanguard of sonic and aesthetic innovation. Thoughtfully intermixing elegance, futurism, divinity, and sensuality, Kelela’s unique perspective has carved a lane that demonstrates style as both a component of art, and art in and of itself.

Liv.e, pronounced “Liv,” is a 23 year old producer and singer/songwriter who mixes facets of R&B, jazz, soul, and hip-hop to create a sound that is wholly her own. Coupling her hypnotic voice and unique writing over textured loops and sun soaked production, Liv.e makes songs that are both eclectic and timeless. While it’s difficult to label Liv.e’s music under one genre or scene, it is born out of production based on samples pulled from vinyl in Dallas record shops, southern rap, and her upbringing in Dallas. Her most recent release Couldn’t Wait to Tell You… is celebrating its year anniversary.
