Maxi Priest has broken down walls and built bridges his whole career. From his 1988 debut Maxi to last year’s GRAMMY-nominated It All Comes Back to Love, he embodies a oneworld sound that heals, rejuvenates, and uplifts. Brooklyn’s own Pan Evolution Steel Orchestra opens.

*Please Note: Chairs will be available at this show, but you are also permitted to bring your own.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Only a handful of singers have succeed in transcending their genre without losing the essence of who they are. Superstar Maxi Priest is one of those artists whose own unique vision has led him to tremendous international success, being the first reggae artist to have a No. 1 hit worldwide, including the U.S. Billboard charts. Maxi Priest is the first British-born singer to graduate from the London reggae sound-system Saxon Studio International, introducing the sound of lovers’ rock to a global audience. Before joining Saxon, Maxi embraced Rastafari and served an apprenticeship with South London soundsystem Negus Negast and the legendary Jah Shaka. Maxi has adhered to these principles his entire career by making conscious music of all kinds. His 2019 album It All Comes Back To Love released on S-Curve Records/BMG and co-produced by Shaggy, was nominated for the Grammy award for Best Reggae Album. He followed that up with 2020’s United State of Mind, a collaborative album with Robin Trower and Livingstone Brown.

Pan Evolution Steel Orchestra, Inc. (PESO) is a Non profit corporation/organization which was formed in November 2015. This music organization uses the steelpan as a platform to promote education, culture, and unity – both locally and internationally. We also believe in enforcing the core values of respect, responsibility, intensity, and dedication. PESO’s mission is to convey to the youths of our community, the fine art of making music on the steelpan, while facilitating the growth and development of our young men and women into society. Our aim is to produce professional players who would develop and grow in the steelpan world and later become renowned performers, steel pan arrangers, and artistry musicians, while producing music in all genres. Pan Evolution has performed at many events throughout the New York City area and outside of New York City. The band competes in the annual West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA) competition and was successful in placing 2nd in 2016, the first year of entering. In 2018 and 2019 respectively the copped 3rd place. For the past three years running they have been in the top three positions in the New York Junior Panorama competition. They are also the two-time “Pan Is Sweet” competition winners. PESO has won numerous accolades, and has been known to give riveting public and private crowd-pleasing performances at many other venues. The members of Pan Evolution Steel Orchestra (PESO) look forward to passing on their tradition of success and great achievements, which can only be achieved by following their motto: Together As One.
