Music & Movies

The film that catapulted John Travolta to stardom and sent disco and the Gibb brothers into the stratosphere has some of the greatest dance scenes ever committed to celluloid, but it’s also a moving coming of age drama and a gritty, sometimes brutal portrait of blue collar Brooklyn in the 1970s. To mark SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER’s 35th anniversary, we screen the original (rated R—not appropriate for a younger audience) and celebrate its legacy with a pre-film set by TRAGEDY, the Tri-State Area’s #1 heavy metal tribute to the Bee Gees. “Through some combination of a successfully executed musical adaptation and a stage show that rarely ceases to exceed its own standard of ridiculousness, Tragedy manage to dwell in the realm of novelty while far exceeding their worth as a concept . . . the aesthetic is somewhere in between the flamboyance of the disco-era Bee Gees and the flamboyance of mid-eighties hair metal, with some extra flamboyance thrown in for the sake of flamboyance.” (Tiny Mix Tapes) Tony Manero costumes welcome.

Come early for a disco-themed yoga class hosted by lululemon at 6:30.
