Dr Sullivan and Laura Anderson Barbata
Anderson Barbata and Dr. Sullivan will discuss the artist's trajectory that she has developed through various mediums in order to tackle complex and diverse issues in her transdisciplinary art. The conversation will include a detailed look into Anderson Barbata's early work with the Yanomami in the Venezuelan Amazon and her initial experiences with the Keylemanjahro School of Arts and Culture in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. The duo will also discuss the way in which these earlier collaborations have led to her current Transcommunality project and how this exhibition at BRIC functions as a continuation of her work within the realm of socially engaged art.
