Family House Party: Jungle Rave

Dive into a neon-tropical world full of endless creative possibilities! During our Jungle Rave, BRIC House will be packed with the vibrant sights and sounds of the rainforest with a '90s underground twist. Join us for animal-inspired art making, innovative media activities, and live performances. As always, stick around for our family dance party led by FamAJam!

	ART & MEDIA ACTIVITIES: 12-3:30PM
12-3pm	Art Activity 1: Glow Stick Wearables Customize your own rave-y look with glow stick glasses, bracelets, and necklaces. Art Activity 2: Flora Scratch Art Inspired by plants and flowers of the rainforest habitat, draw using a wooden stick to scratch away your own design to reveal bright color and contrast. Art Activity 3: Party Photo Booth Capture the moment and take a piece of the party home with you. Select your props, a fun filter, and strike a pose. BALLROOM

12-3:30pm	Masking Tape Mural Collaborate and contribute to our vibrant community mural to transform the walls at BRIC. BOX OFFICE

12-3:30pm	Blacklight Posters Screenprint and design your very own blacklight reactive poster. SWING SPACE

12:30-3:30pm	Animate Yourself Decorate a jungle-themed mask, then animate yourself in front of a green screen by using the stop motion animation process. TV STUDIO (1ST FLOOR)

	PERFORMANCES ON THE STOOP
1:30-2pm	Capoeira Vida Discover this Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines dance, acrobatics, and music. Led by Mestre Foca, Brooklyn-based Capoeira Vida presents a high-energy demonstration with live percussion featuring adult and youth capoeiristas. STOOP

2:45-3:30pm	Brooklyn Music School Enjoy the sounds of the Adult Orchestra and the Adult Jazz Ensemble. The Brooklyn Music School is a community school for the performing arts, and has stayed true to their heritage of building communities through the joy and appreciation of music STOOP

	DANCE PARTY
3:30-5pm	Family Dance Party with FamAJam! Move your family dance party from the living room to the BRIC House Ballroom and dance it out! FamAJam presents an afternoon dance party featuring real music spun and mixed by real DJs blending classic disco tunes from the 70s, & 80s with today’s hottest dance tunes that creates a child-proof disco for toddlers, pre-schoolers, and parents looking to let loose! BALLROOM

Venue Information:

BRIC House is Brooklyn’s cultural living room: a 40,000 square foot multi-disciplinary arts and media complex in the former Strand Theatre, where emerging and established artists can create work that deepens their practice and engages the diverse communities of the borough.

Beginning Nov. 1, 2022, attendees of any BRIC House programming will no longer have to show proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter the building. BRIC is committed to welcoming people of all abilities. BRIC's main entrance, located on Rockwell Street, is fully accessible. In addition the main floor of BRIC House has an accessible, all-gender bathroom. The BRIC Media Center, located on the 2nd floor, is accessible via elevator. The Gallery level is accessible via a wheelchair lift. Portable FM assistive listening devices are available for programs on the Stoop and in the Ballroom upon request.
