Who doesn’t love cartoons? Whether young or young-at-heart, come share your favorite cartoon characters and moments with fellow Brooklynites at our final Family House Party of the season. Wearing your pajamas or dressed in cartoon cosplay, join us for an animated day of hands-on art making, podcasting, puzzles, and live performances, all culminating in a lively dance party, hosted by Party Like Brooklyn, Baby. NoteThe Portrait Is Political exhibition in the Gallery contains depictions of nudity.

SCHEDULE (Continually Updated):

Art Activity 1: Pixel Art
Explore how artists and game designers use pixels to create images by making your own paper mosaic.

Art Activity 2: Superhero Masks
What’s your secret identity?  Create a wearable superhero mask with bold colors and designs.

Art Activity 3: Optical Illusion
Create a thaumatrope, an optical illusion toy from the Victorian era.  Just like animation, this technique fools your eye.

Digital Remix Art Activity: Game On!
Insert yourself into a classic 8-bit video game. Create your own character and animate it moving through a virtual world.

Screen Printing: Tune In
Make your own screen print of a vintage TV, and then draw a portrait of yourself and your family on screen.  Or, draw a picture of a show you’d like to make.

Event Sponsor Table: Ask a Doctor!

Stop by our event sponsor table, where doctors from NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital will be answering your questions and giving out special treats and more!

The Reading Room
Hang out in the Reading Room for quiet puzzles, games, drawing, and your favorite books from our friends at the Brooklyn Public Library.

Podcasting: Fans Geek Out
Tell us about the shows, games, and heroes you love. Learn the basics of creating a simple podcast, including writing a script, interviewing, and recording good audio.
