BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn & LAMC Present

The reunited Argentine duo ILLYA KURYAKI & THE VALDERRAMAS deliver a pupil-dilating blend of hip-hop, rock, funk, and salsa with an irresistible sense of fun and mischief. Comprised of Dante Spinetta and Emmanuel Horvilleur, Buenos Aires natives, the band formed in 1991, taking its name from the fictional Russian spy Illya Kuryakin from the 1960s TV show The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and the Colombian soccer genius Carlos Valderrama.

The Latin Grammy-winning CHOC QUIB TOWN formed in 2000 with the intent to create a new fusion of Colombian Afro-Caribbean music and hip-hop from the perspective of the Afro-Caribbean people of the Chocó, a small department in Western Colombia. The band consists of husband and wife Carlos “Tostao” Valencia and Gloria “Goyo” Martínez and Gloria’s brother Miguel “Slow” Martínez, all originally from Chocó. Their albums include Somos Pacífico (Polen, Zafra, 2006), Oro (Nacional Records, 2010), which earned them a Latin Grammy for Best Alternative Song for “De Donde Vengo Yo,” and Eso Es Lo Que Hay (Sony Music Latin, 2012).

The hypnotic Chilean duo RVSB is the project of DJ Raff and Latin Bitman, two of the most creative minds in Latin electronica. “RVSB (abbreviation for Raff vs. Bitman) promises to be the ultimate DJ battle ever imagined, with two of the most adventurous sonic innovators in South America showing off their skills in production and scratch.” (Remezcla)
