Bud Light Latin Music Series

A Latin dance party of epic proportions comes to the Bandshell with JIMMY BOSCH, “El Trombon Criollo,” leading an all-star ensemble that includes Herman Olivera, Willito Otero, Yoko La Japonesa Salsera, Edwin Sanchez, Karen Joseph, Bobby Allende, Jorge Gonzalez, Orlanda Vega, Jose Tabares, Mitch Frohman, Pete Nader, Jeff Lederer, and the Yamulee Dancers. Bosch was born in Jersey City and has become something of a local salsa institution unto himself; he has released numerous albums as a leader and has toured the world with the likes of Ruben Blades, Eddie Palmieri, and the Fania All Stars.

Bosch and this powerhouse collection of local stars share the bill with the irresistible Cuban percussionist PEDRITO MARTINEZ, whose red-hot band has its roots planted firmly in the Afro-Cuban Rumba tradition and in the bata rhythms and vocal chants of the music of Yoruba and Santeria—a sound Ben Ratliff writing in the NY Times described as “complex, blenderized Africa-to-the-New-World funk.” Martinez’s group is augmented here by the exceptional vocalist ARIACNE TRUJILLO.
