Audiences of all ages are invited to sing, dance, and learn about music with the GRAMMY-nominated orchestra The Knights.
Syrian-born/Brooklyn-based clarinetist Kinan Azmeh is the guest for this Family Show and The Knights will be performing some of his original music, including the hit tune “Wedding,” which is meant to invoke the special atmosphere of a traditional Syrian wedding party. The Knights will also play Vivaldi, a recent piece by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw, and a jazz-era swing tune. These pieces will be interspersed with hands-on demonstrations and Q&A, in an interactive matinee performance that is sure to inspire curiosity and encourage musical discoveries.
General Admission: Seated
The Knights residency at BRIC is made possible through generous support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and, in part, with public funds from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council; the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature; and the National Endowment for the Arts.
