Join us for the live premiere of our new podcast M Train, a six-part audio series that explores different facets of Muslim life, culture, and diversity in New York City.

For this inaugural episode, we'll be focusing on the rising number of Muslims entering the political arena and their impact. Our panelists include:

  • Sadaf Jaffer, Mayor of Montgomery, NJ - the first woman of South Asian descent to serve as mayor of a town in New Jersey, and the first Muslim woman to serve as a mayor in the United States.

  • Staten Island Assemblymember Charles D. Fall -- the first Muslim and African-American Assemblymember elected from Staten Island.

  • Brooklyn-based activist Shahana Hanif, candidate for NY City Council District 39 to discuss the increasing number of Muslims entering the political arena.

M Train is co-produced and hosted by journalist and See Something, Say Something host Ahmed Ali Akbar, in collaboration with BRIC TV producer Shirin Barghi

This event is co-presented with the Brooklyn Podcast Festival. Produced with support from the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art’s Building Bridges Program
