Artists Sarah E. Brook and Véronique Gambier discuss their work in the Surface Matters exhibition, on view in the Project Room of BRIC House. The artists will explore how the importance of the process of merging the surface of canvas or paper with material—such as paint, pigment and sandpaper—is, for each of them, as much an expression of environment or internal state of being, as it is the tangible visual mark or structure they create. The two artists will also talk about the inspiration behind their work and the fascinating dialogue that is created between their work when exhibited together, full of rich emotional content, visual interest, and aesthetic beauty.
This public program takes place in conjunction with the Surface Matters exhibition.
