Brooklyn Free Speech provides Brooklyn residents with an opportunity to voice their hopes, dreams, ideas, and aspirations to their communities through Brooklyn Free Speech, which is cablecast to over 550,000 households on Verizon, Optimum, Spectrum, and RCN and worldwide via online streaming at BRICartsmedia.org/BFreeBK.

Every week, over 650 hours of television programming is provided by Brooklyn-based individuals and organizations, and the content knows no limits ranging from sports to civic affairs to comedy to live music performances. 

Four (4) Easy Steps To Your Own TV Show...
In order to use the media center's state-of-the-art television studios, production equipment, editing suites, and facilitiesat no costyou will need to become a Certified Community Producer. Follow our four easy steps below to learn how:

Attend our free media education orientation and learn all about our free and low-cost, high-quality media offerings at BRIC House in Fort Greene, and five Brooklyn Public Library locations in East New York, Clinton Hill / Park Slope, Coney Island, Bushwick, and Midwood.

Orientation is a pre-requisite for all individuals and organizations wishing to take our certification courses in order to use the media center's facilities and equipment to produce their program, regardless of production experience.

After attending an orientation session, you can make a reservation to participate in one or more of our media education certification courses. To become a Certified Community Producer, complete one, or all of the following media education certification courses:



Congratulations! You've completed your certification course and reached Certified Community Producer (CP) Status which means you have full access (in your particular area of certification) to Brooklyn Free Speech's state-of-the-art media centerat no cost—to produce your own show on Brooklyn Free Speech

Now that you're at CP Status, get your Brooklyn Free Speech airdate by one (1) of these three ways:

  1. Call or email our Programming Department at 718.683.5643, 718.683.5644, programming@BRICartsmedia.org to schedule an in-person appointment. 
  2. Fill out our online New Series Application form.
  3. Not ready for an airdate but want to produce a show? 
    Submit a programming proposal to Brooklyn Free Speech's Community Producer Liaison, Matthew Allen and Brooklyn Free Speech's Manager of Community Producer Services, Joseph Ranghelli at proposals@BRICartsmedia.org.

*New series applications are only accepted in January, April, July, and October. A new series submitted for cablecast in January, April, or July 201 will be eligible to be submitted for the 2019 B Free Awards. A new series application submitted for cablecast in October 2018 will be eligible for the 2019 B Free Awards.
