The Media Center
Brooklyn Free Speech opens the door to your media possibilities— empowering you to learn and create innovative media.

A Brooklyn Free Speech Tradition: Every year after the B Free Awards the whole staff gets together for a photo to capture the memory of the night. This photo was taken at the 6th Annual B Free Awards on Saturday, April 6, 2019. The Brooklyn Free Speech staff wants to say thank you for your time, your dedication, and your commitment to community-made media. We'll see you at the 7th Annual B Free Awards on Saturday. March 28, 2020.

Welcome! This Is The Place Where Media Dreamers Become Media Makers.
Brooklyn Free Speech is a New York Emmy-winning community television network that amplifies and honors alternative voices in media. The initiative seeks to empower Brooklynites with media dreams to share their brilliance, talent, and creativity with the world.
The BRIC Media Center gives Brooklynites the tools and know-how to professionally create and cablecast their own television programs on Brooklyn Free Speech television, a community television network displaying programs that reflect the borough's diversity of thought and culture.
We provide all Brooklynites with access to high-quality TV and podcast studio facilities and equipment, and wallet-friendly media training. We are located in the heart of the Downtown Brooklyn Cultural District at BRIC House, 647 Fulton Street (between Rockwell Place & DeKalb Avenue).
The majority of our facility is reserved for use by our Certified Community Producers.

What is a Certified Community Producer?
A Certified Community Producer is anyone who has completed one of the ten (10) media education certification courses we offer: TV Studio Production, Video Production in the Field, Video Editing with Premiere, Mini-Studio Production, the BRIC Documentary Intensive, Black Box Filmmaking, the BRIC Podcast Intensive, Intro to Radio Podcasting, Studio Podcasting, and the Field Audio Equipment Certification.
Check Orientation Dates & Availability
After completion of a certification course you become a Certified Community Producer and gain free, exclusive access to the equipment and facilities related to the specific area of study you chose.
So, if you take our TV Studio Production class, you become a Certified Community Producer and gain free access to our two TV studios. If you take our Studio Podcasting class, you become a Certified Community Producer and gain free access to our podcast studio. Being certified to use the podcast studio does not give you access to use the TV studios and vice versa. Why? Our curricula are designed to give you specialized training on how to use our equipment to ensure success on your projects.
Here are just a few of the free, exclusive perks afforded to BRIC Media Center Certified Community Producers:
- Free content distribution on BRIC's Emmy and Hometown Media Award-winning, Brooklyn Free Speech TV & Podcast Network;
- Exclusive access to Brooklyn Free Speech's two TV studios;
- Exclusive access to Brooklyn Free Speech's podcast studio;
- Exclusive access to Brooklyn Free Speech's mini (hotline) studio;
