START THE 72 HOUR FILM RACE HERE
B Scene: A Race to the Mountain Top is the culmination of a 72-hour race to make a film. We invite filmmakers of all levels to make an entire short film in 72 hours then invite YOU to join us to watch these works created about Black love, gentrification, and Afrofuturism. The audience will decide the winner!
FILM RACE RULES
Applications for the 72-Hour (Film) Race to the Mountaintop) opens on Thurs, January 25, 2018 5pm!
- The 72-Hour Film Race begins Friday, January 26, 2018, 5PM and ends on Sunday, January 28, 2018. Videos are due Monday, January 29, 5PM. Films will be screened on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.
- You must be 18 years or older to participate.
- Topics: Black Love, Gentrification, and Afrofuturism
- 75% of the footage has to be original. Certified Community Producers are allowed to use Media Center's equipment (according to media center and library polices). Non-certified producers and non-Brooklyn residents are allowed to submit and participate in the race but will NOT have access to the BRIC Media Center equipment or facilities.
- Films submitted can be NO LONGER than five minutes.
- Credits are required for any person that works on or is featured in the project
- If there is nudity, violence, hate speech, profanity or anything pertaining to adult conduct, YOU MUST INCLUDE A DISCLAIMER in the beginning of the clip.
- You are responsible for obtaining personal, location, and material releases for any 3rd party footage.
- By submitting a film you are granting BRIC the right to air the material on all cablecast and digital platforms.
- Please submit Head shot and short bio with your video.
Video format: H.264 /MP4 10-12mb, AAC audio (mono or stereo) no more than 320kb.

B Scene is a film and television screening series, that showcases community produced work. We proudly present work that is reflective of Brooklyn’s media makers in a way that is uniquely Brooklyn Free Speech.
On your mark…get set… and GO!!!!! On Wednesday, February 21 from 6:30-8:30PM, the Brooklyn Free Speech team will present, B Scene: A Race to the Mountain Top-- a showing of films from our 72 hour film race. Join us in experiencing Black love, ethnic cleansing, and afrofuturism through short films by inspiring film makers.
During the screening you, The AUDIENCE will determine who the winners are for each category. Come out for this special screening, giveaways, and more.
