Please join A Blade of Grass for a screening of FIELDWORKS: Season Two at BRIC, followed by a Q&A with Executive Producers and Directors Rafael Salazar and Ava Wiland (RAVA Films), moderated by artist Paul Ramírez Jonas. The 50-minute screening will showcase projects by A Blade of Grass Fellows Sol Aramendi, Laura Chipley, Suzanne Lacy, Mary Mattingly, The Plug-In Studio, Nigel Poor, Dread Scott, and Adaku Utah.
A Blade of Grass is an organization whose mission is to provide resources to artists who demonstrate artistic excellence and serve as innovative conduits for social change. FIELDWORKS is a short documentary series presented by the organization that explores the beauty, rigor, and impact of socially engaged art.
Rafael Salazar & Ava Wiland are RAVA Films, a husband and wife, producer/director team. They create independent documentaries and arts-related video content on assignment that aim to shine light on real people and experiences through distinct and powerful storytelling. They have directed and produced dozens of films for the Peabody award-winning organization Art21, as well as international organizations such as the U.S. Department of State, TATE, The Bronx Museum of the Arts & SKY Arts. RAVA’s projects have received numerous accolades and selection to prestigious festivals including a Webby nomination, and have screened at renowned venues such as BAM, Tate, the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA), among others.
Over the past 25 years Paul Ramírez Jonas has sought to challenge the definitions of art and the public and to engineer active audience participation and exchange. He has been made public in galleries, institutions and urban spaces around the world. He is currently an Associate Professor at Hunter College, where he has been since 2007; and is represented by Galeria Nara Roesler in Sao Paulo. His selected solo exhibitions include Pinacoteca do Estado, Sao Paulo; The Aldrich Contemporary Museum, Connecticut; The Blanton Museum, Texas; a survey at Ikon Gallery (UK) and Cornerhouse (UK). He has been included in group exhibitions at P.S.1 (NYC); the Brooklyn Museum; The Whitechapel (UK); Irish Museum of Modern Art (Ireland); The New Museum (NYC); and Kunsthaus Zurich. He participated in the 1st Johannesburg Biennale; 1st Seoul Biennial; 6th Shanghai Biennial; 28th Sao Paulo Biennial; 53rd Venice Biennial and 7th Bienal do Mercosul. He is currently the subject of a 25 year retrospective at the Contemporary Art Museum in Houston.

Venue Information:
The Stoop at BRIC House is a public cultural gathering space featuring free, drop-in programming, and offering a place to sit, observe, and participate in multi-disciplinary work.
Beginning Nov. 1, 2022, attendees of any BRIC House programming will no longer have to show proof of vaccination or a negative test to enter the building.
