For over 40 years, BRIC has presented its most acclaimed program, the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, each summer at the Prospect Park Bandshell. This year, the beloved festival was transformed into a virtual multi-platform destination designed to bring the spirit of the annual festival to life. Audience members were able to tune in on Facebook, YouTube and Brooklyn cable channels on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26 for a host of musical performances from some of your favorite artists. Both nights are now available, on demand, on YouTube!

Hosted LIVE by Michelle Buteau | A stand-up comedian, actress, and podcast host known for her role on BET’s First Wives Club and as the host Netflix’s The Circle, who brings her unique perspective and big personality to stage and screen.

SATURDAY

Kes | A Caribbean soca group formed in 2005 and known for their unique blend of soulful vocals, calypso inspired melodies, rock riffs and island beats, with hints of reggae.

Lila Downs | A Grammy award-winning, Mexican alternative folk singer/songwriter whose sound bridges folk and ranchera music, jazz, blues, and hip-hop, combined with social justice-minded lyrics and poignant storytelling.

Junglepussy | A dynamic rapper and actress who debuted online in 2014 and quickly built a cult following around her quick-witted, tongue-in-cheek lyricism and no-holds-barred self-love.

Madison McFerrin + Visual Artist Shantell Martin | A soulful Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter who self-released her first album in 2016 and was quickly recognized as a musician to watch with her vocal dexterity and flowing a capella harmonies. Madison will be virtually joined by Shantell Martin, a visual artist known for her large scale, continuous line black-and-white drawings, who has collaborated with artists and institutions including Kendrick Lamar, the New York City Ballet, and Puma.

?uestlove DJ Set | DJ and drummer/co-frontman of hip-hop band the Roots, ?uestlove’s affinity for and knowledge of smooth soul music is at the heart of his inventive, effortlessly produced DJ sets.

Angelique Kidjo | A Benin-born, Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter known for her striking voice and cross-pollination of traditional West African musical traditions with the diverse voices of Africa’s diaspora.

Yemi Alade | A Nigerian Afropop singer/songwriter, composer, and actress, who released her 2014 debut album, King of Queens, with a mix of reggae, R&B, rap, and Afropop.

Buscabulla + Visual Artist Glendalys Medina | An experimental Puerto Rican pop duo (Luis Alfredo Del Valle and Raquel Berrios) that blends dance-pop, electro, funk, and Boricua beats to create smooth, imaginative music. Glendalys Medina is a Nuyorican, interdisciplinary visual artist whose modernist, symbol-based work is inspired by her experiences growing up in the Bronx as well as her Afro-Puerto Rican, Taíno heritage.

The Tallest Man on Earth | A Swedish singer/songwriter who debuted as a solo artist in 2006, he is known for his indie rock music with strong folk influences, paired with poetic lyrics sung in a passionate, rough croon.

Common w/ Robert Glasper + Karriem Riggins | A Grammy award-winning rapper, actor, philanthropist, and activist who debuted in 1992 and has since become well known for his thoughtful, reflective lyrics and assured exploration of sound and rhythm. Common will be joined by Robert Glasper, a jazz pianist and record producer who blurs genre distinctions with his smooth, melodious harmonies, and Karriem Riggins, a prolific multi-instrumentalist and producer best known for his innovative jazz and hip-hop drumming.
