Founded in 1991 by hip-hop aficionados Danny Castro and Anthony Marshall, the Lyricist Lounge brings a showcase of rappers, emcees, and DJs to the Celebrate Brooklyn! this summer.

Riding high on the most recent release of his album Shaolin vs Wu-Tang, Raekwon is one of the original members of seminal rap clique the Wu-Tang Clan. A unique conglomerate of nine lyricists hailing from Staten Island, Wu-Tang Clan set trends in the early 1990s at a time when hip hop’s radio play and sales were championed largely by West Coast artists. From his first solo album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, which went gold in less than three days, Raekwon went on to record several albums with the Clan and took on a starring role in the film Black and White.

Smif-n-Wessum duo Tek and Steele comprise one-fourth of the Brownsville, Brooklyn supergroup Boot Camp Click, and are best known for their Jamaican Patois during raps.

New York based hip-hop emcees Joell Ortiz, Neek the Exotic & Large Professor, and Skyzoo round out the night.
