MARY MARY brings a heavenly dose of urban contemporary gospel to the Bandshell. The Grammy-winning sisters Erica Campbell and Tina Campbell blazed a trail in the last decade by introducing soul, hip-hop, funk, and jazz into the genre. Their pioneering crossover hit Shackles (Praise You) arrived in 2000, and since then they have and earned three Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, an NAACP Image Award and a BET Award. They have skyrocketed to even wider fame with their new self-titled reality show on WE tv. The golden-voiced Queens native LATICE CRAWFORD will anoint the crowd with an opening set. She announced her arrival on the contemporary gospel scene when she became a finalist on the second season of BET’s Sunday Best, and has since shared the stage with New Life Ministries (Richard Smallwood), Hezekiah Walker, Timothy Wright, and David Bratton. Both her voice and her commitment are forces to be reckoned with, which is clear every time she performs; as she always says, “I don’t sing, I testify to a beat!”

Gospel Parade at 6:30

Join us at Washington Park (5th Ave and 4th Street) as the Lafayette Inspiration Ensemble leads a gospel sing-a-long parade thru the streets of Park Slope to the Bandshell! Presented in association with Make Music New York.
